Cap-Rouge Historic Sites & Interpretive Centres
One of the oldest houses in Cap-Rouge, la Maison Blanchette was destroyed by fire in 1988 before being restored. Originally the home of Onésime Blanchette, it served as a hotel and a grocery store in the 19th century, then became a post office before its current incarnation as an art centre. The building houses two artists' workshops, a small gallery and a gift shop. Art classes are offered, and the "Dames Blanchette" conduct historical re-enactments of the home's original inhabitants every Sunday afternoon from late June to the first week of September.
La Maison Léon-Provancher is an interpretive centre located in the historic house of 19th century Naturalist Léon Provancher. The house was the site where Provancher completed the main portion of his scientific works, between 1872 and 1892. Guided tours of the house and nearby parklands are available by reservation.
